Social Development Ltd - Company Profile

Social Development (Sosiaalikehitys Oy) is a company limited established in 1990 specializing in evaluation, research and development in the welfare sector. We provide our customers solutions for organizing welfare services in Finland and in Europe based on careful research. Our core activities are:

• Evaluations and questionnaires
• Research and surveys 
• Development projects
• Training and consultancy

Our most important customers include ministries and municipalities as well as different NGO´s, foundations, Stakes (National Research and Development Centre) and Sitra (The Finnish Innovation Fund). For almost twenty years SCD has produced and executed over 400 development, research and evaluation projects. Our challenge has been to develop Finnish welfare with a diverse range of measures. SCD has focused on furthering those goals of welfare politics considered realistic both locally and nationally. The majority of SCD's commissions has been connected to areas in social-, labour market-, business- and education politics.

SCD has an extensive experience in executing development and evaluation projects funded by the EU both in Finland and in co-operation with European partners.

SCD faces expectations to produce realistic and concrete development proposals and efforts as new social problems emerge. On the other hand, many themes such as homelessness have been present throughout the years. Work to promote better life continues. Whether performing evaluations or creating development projects SCD promises that the development work will always remain strongly tied to the everyday life of Finnish citizens, their aspirations, dreams and hopes.

SCD comprises today a personnel of 19 professionals. It is a multi-voiced and multidisciplinary fusion of knowledge, experience and new enthusiasm. Our company is a combination of experts who have the ability to listen, the courage to speak out and a genuine strive to achieve concrete results.

Our office is located in the capital of the Province of Southern Finland, Hämeenlinna, and the company is owned by municipalities of Häme Region. The main stockholder is the city of Hämeenlinna.
